Mild Cognitive Impairment Overview
Monday, July 27th

Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) is a term used to describe changes in the brain that lead to difficulties with thinking skills that are greater than expected for a person’s age and education levels, but are lesser than those seen in dementia. MCI is a descriptive term rather than a specific medical condition or disease.

A 4 session learning series for family and friends of persons living with dementia. A base overview to help understand the changes associated with dementia.

MIDDLE STAGE EDUCATION SERIES


A three session learning series for family and friends of persons living with dementia who are in the middle stage. Topics include: recognizing middle stage, hands-on care tips, long term care discussion.

We are offering various learning opportunities online to help families and friends continue to stay connected and enhance their knowledge of dementia. These programs will be hosted by one of our Public Education team members and all participants will have the chance to ask questions.

The online platform we use is called Zoom. It is safe and easy to install.

People living with young onset dementia face different challenges than those who are older. This presentation will dive into the specific needs of those living with young onset dementia and discuss strategies to enhance their overall quality of life.

Benefits of Early Diagnosis

Early diagnosis is important. Symptoms of irreversible dementia can be similar to those of other conditions such as depression, thyroid or heart disease among others. 

Finding out the cause of the symptoms can help people understand the source of the symptoms, get the proper care, treatment and support and plan for the future.

You can ask your local Public Educator your questions! Please email them your question(s), and they will reply back with the date and time of your local zoom meeting. Meetings will be approximately 45 minutes. Each presentation will be unique and will addresses the questions that had been sent in. Invitations will be sent exclusively to the people who sent in questions!
